Types of Mountains

MOUNTAINS!
1) Volcanic Mountains: A mountain formed from lava and/or pyroclastics. EXAMPLES: Hawaii




2) Fold-and-thrust belts: Regions within commpresstional mountain systems where large arsa have been shortened and thickened by the processes of folding and thrust faulting. EXAMPLES: Appalachians 

3) Fault-block mountain: A mountain formed by the displacement of rock along a fault. EXAMPLES: Basin and Range region 

4) Dome Mountains: a roughly folded upfolded structure. 
Examples: Castle Dome Mountains

5) Plateau Mountains: Formed from erosion, water running through channels into a region. Examples: Mt. Royal
